Nigeria Police Force Announces Commencement of Constable Recruitment Screening

The Police Recruitment Board has officially set January 8th as the commencement date for the screening of successful applicants vying for recruitment into the Constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.

In a meeting held today, Thursday, December 21st, at the Corporate Headquarters of the Police Service Commission in Jabi, Abuja, the Board made crucial decisions regarding the upcoming phases of the recruitment process.

Upon the closure of the Recruitment Portal earlier this month, a total of 416,270 Nigerian youths met the initial requirements for the next stage of the exercise. This cohort consists of 315,065 candidates for General Duty and 101,205 for specialist cadre.

Successful candidates are expected to receive their letters of invitation on or before December 23, 2023.

The next stage will encompass both physical and credentials screening, to be conducted in the applicants' respective states of origin. The Board emphasizes that candidates invited for the screening must bring original copies of their certificates and credentials, including letters of attestation from their Local Government Chairmen and/or traditional rulers.

Further stages in the recruitment process include a computer-based test (CBT) following the screening and a subsequent medical examination. Dates for these stages will be announced in due course.

In the aftermath of the portal closure, Kaduna State leads with 31,117 successful applicants, followed by Adamawa with 29,848, Benue with 25,346, Borno with 24,854, Katsina with 24,239, and Bauchi with 22,958. Other states boasting high numbers of successful applicants include Kano, Niger, Gombe, Yobe, Nasarawa, Jigawa, Taraba, Plateau, and Kebbi.

Conversely, Anambra State has the lowest number of successful applicants nationwide at 1,141, followed by Ebonyi, Lagos, and Abia with 1,537, 1,775, and 2,110 respectively.

The Board urges candidates to conduct themselves in a manner befitting Nigerian youths aspiring to a career in the Nigeria Police Force—an institution governed by strict laws and regulations with discipline at its core.

Additionally, the Board issues a warning against fraudsters making false promises in exchange for money, emphasizing that the entire recruitment exercise is free and will be conducted based on merit and performance at each stage.
